Coffee with the Counselors

Attention Parents and Families:
The next Coffee with the Counselors is Tuesday, April 10th, from 7:30AM to 8:30AM. Please join us!

The results of our 2010-2011 Needs Assessment indicated a need for counselors to provide information to parents and families on topics such as safe behaviors, goal setting, college entrance exams, awareness of teen issues, respect and communication with teens, and how to help with time management. This school year, we would like to welcome and invite parents and families to have coffee with the counselors and provide an opportunity to discuss a number of these topics. We will hold three sessions this school year: one in the fall, the winter, and the spring. The first Coffee with the Counselors was held on Tuesday, October 11th, at 7:30 AM. and the second was held on January 10th All three school guidance counselors, as well as the college and career coordinator and the school social worker are available. Please join us!

What is Tuition Break?

NEBHE's Tuition Break program, the New England Regional Student Program (RSP), enables thousands of New England residents to enroll at out-of-state New England public colleges and universities at a discount. Students are eligible for the RSP Tuition Break when they enroll in an approved major that is not offered by the public colleges and universities in their home-state.

New England includes the following six states: Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Rhode Island and Vermont.

Hundreds of Approved Programs

More than 700 undergraduate and graduate degree programs are offered through the RSP Tuition Break by New England's 82 public colleges and universities. Check Find a Program.

Savings

Since it was established in 1957, the RSP Tuition Break has provided New England residents discounts on more than 240,000 annual tuition bills, with total savings well into the billions of dollars. In the 2010-11 academic year, over 9,000 New England residents saved an estimated $53 million in tuition because of the RSP. A full-time RSP student received an average tuition break of $7,000.

The RSP Tuition Break program not only saves students thousands of dollars in college tuition, but also enables the six New England states to expand educational opportunities for their residents, while avoiding duplication of costly academic programs.
