The Fairhaven Public School District is participating in Inter-District School Choice for the 2026-2027 school year in grades K, 1, and 2 only.

To apply for open School Choice seats in grades K, 1, or 2, please complete the FPS School Choice Application.

When is the deadline?

School Choice Applications for the 2026-2027 school year must be completed by Monday, June 29, 2026 at 3PM. If the number of applicants exceeds the number of allotted seats, applicants will be selected via a random lottery process on June 30, 2026 at 3PM.

What grade levels can I apply for admission via school choice?

East Fairhaven School has available seats in grades 1 and 2 only. Leroy Wood School is accepting applications for kindergarten, grade 1, and grade 2.

Is transportation provided for students accepted via school choice?

No. Transportation is not provided for school choice students. Transportation to and from school is the responsibility of the parent or guardian.

If I live in Fairhaven, can I apply for school choice to another neighborhood elementary school?

No. School choice seats are only available to non-resident students. Current FPS students cannot apply for school choice to another FPS elementary school.

Must a student admitted under school choice reapply in subsequent years?

No. Once a receiving district admits a non-resident student through school choice, that student has the right to remain in the district — provided enrollment is continuous — until graduation or completion of the highest grade offered. This right to continued attendance applies even if the district later decides to stop participating in the school choice program.
