Inclement Weather Communication

As we approach the winter season, we want to take a moment to share important information and reminders regarding our communications about inclement weather and potential school closures. Please take a moment to review the details below.
In the event of inclement weather, the Fairhaven Public Schools utilizes the following process for communication to families and staff:
Television and Radio:
As soon as a decision is made, FPS will broadcast early dismissals, delayed openings and school closures via local television/radio networks. Our district broadcasts information on the following channels/station:
WBZ Channel 4
Channel 6, 10, and 12 (Rhode Island Broadcasting Stations)
Fox 25
WHDH Channel 7
NECN
Blue Devil TV (Local Channel 9)
WBSM Radio
Social Media:

Email/Phone Call:
In the event of an early dismissal, the Superintendent will communicate to all families via email and phone through School Messenger as soon as a decision is made.
If a decision is made to close our schools for an entire day or delay the start of a particular day:
If the decision is made the night before, every effort will be made to notify families by approximately 9:00 PM.
If a decision is made the morning of, every effort will be made to notify families by approximately 6:00 AM.
